BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massachusetts officials are among many nationwide who are speaking out and sharing condolences after a mother of three was shot and killed by ICE agents in Minneapolis, Minn.

Renee Nicole Good was in her car on Wednesday morning when she was approached by ICE agents, asking her to get out of her car. When Good began to drive away, an ICE agent fired shots towards her vehicle, which then crashed into a utility pole and a parked car.

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem called the shooting an act of domestic terrorism, saying the ICE agent was acting in self-defense because Good was trying to run him over with her vehicle. However, many are skeptical.

Noem has since made numerous appearances speaking on the shooting. On Wednesday night, after the shooting, Homeland Security held a press conference on the incident, where Noem called it a domestic terror attack.

“Today alone, in this country, there have been four different domestic terrorist attacks on Federal Officers by the ramming of vehicles, three of them happened here in Minneapolis,” said Noem. “We’ve seen over 100 of these vehicle rammings happen in just recent weeks, and this must stop.”

Vice President J.D. Vance took to X to voice his opinions on the matter in a post saying he and President Trump back ICE agents.

“I want every ICE officer to know that their president, vice president, and the entire administration stands behind them. To the radicals assaulting them, doxxing them, and threatening them: congratulations, we're going to work even harder to enforce the law.”

Massachusetts Senate President Karen Spilka said Good was murdered by ICE and the incident was “more than a tragic injustice.”

“It is the direct result of the Trump Administration's dangerous, inhumane and anti-American policies,” Spilka said. “My heart is with Renee's family and friends as they deal with the loss of their loved one.”

Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley made a statement on Wednesday condemning the shooting and demanding the abolition of ICE.

“ICE is a rogue, violent agency that moves with reckless disregard for human life and due process, and it has no business in our communities. It must be abolished, and the agents involved must be held fully accountable,” Pressley said.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu made a post on BlueSky, also calling for an end to ICE deployment.

"Once again, we can see with our own eyes the cruel and vicious agenda of the Trump administration,” stated Wu’s post. “To protect our residents, we must end the mass deployment of ICE agents into American cities and restore rule of law and basic accountability from the federal government.”

Sen. Ed Markey posted a video on X, accompanied by a clip from the shooting, asking for the removal of ICE and Kristi Noem.

“This is what happens when a corrupt Federal Administration floods a city with masked ICE thugs,” said Markey in the video. “I stand with Minnesota leaders, ICE must get out of our cities now, Kristi Noem must go.”

Other political figures, such as Senator Elizabeth Warren, Congresswoman Katherine Clark, and U.S. Representative Seth Moulton, took to X to voice a similar dismay with ICE and the Trump Administration.
