(WBZ NewsRadio) — Dozens gathered alongside ice cream founders Ben and Jerry at Boston Common to call for police accountability on Saturday afternoon.
Impacted Families Embracing Police Accountability and the Party for Socialism and Liberation hosted the rally to demand transparency and accountability from police. Families who have been impacted by police brutality spoke at the event calling on lawmakers to support independent investigations into fatal police shootings and to end qualified immunity.
"All people are asking for is a chance to have their day in court and to have an independent body investigate the situation instead of the police investigating themselves," Ben Cohen, co-founder of Ben and Jerry's told WBZ's James Rojas. "I mean you heard about the blue wall of silence."

After rallygoers marched, Ben and Jerry provided free ice cream and resources on how to build support to end qualified immunity.
"The people here today are their families, their loved ones remembering them and trying to make changes so it doesn't keep happening," said Jerry Greenfield, co-founder of Ben and Jerry's.
