TRURO, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Truro man is facing murder charges for allegedly killing his mother after first responders found a body burning on his front lawn, according to a statement from the District Attorney's office of Michael O’Keefe and Truro Police Chief Jamie Calise.

Responders arrived at the scene and found a man outside of the house while a fire blazed on the front lawn at about 9:30 P.M. on Friday. When responders realized it was a body that was burning, the man ran into the house and locked the door, the statement said.

The Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team responded to the scene and were able to get into the house and place Howe under arrest.

The man was identified as Adam Howe, 34, and evidence suggests the burning body belonged to his mother, Susan Howe, 69, according to O’Keefe and Calise's statement.

Emergency responders originally went to the house for a requested well-being check and to investigate a separate report of a fire.
