BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — First Night Boston is getting a change of scenery this year.

New England's largest New Year's Eve celebration will be kicking off the new year at City Hall Plaza instead of its typical spot in Copley Square. The park is under construction promoting the change.

First Night will feature local musicians, artists, and performers at City Hall Plaza and in Boston Common. There will also be ice sculptures, the “First Night Boston Parade”, and a laser and pyrotechnic show. When the clock strikes midnight, there will be two sets of fireworks displays.

“City Hall Plaza was designed for events like First Night—opportunities for the community to come together and celebrate our shared love for Boston,” Boston Mayor Michelle Wu said. “I’m so excited to announce that First Night will be coming to Boston City Hall in 2024 and can’t wait to join our residents as we ring in the new year.”

A schedule highlighting more events taking place will be released in a few weeks.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of residents and visitors attend the event.
