SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Green Line extension opens on Monday bringing T riders five stops further than before.
The Medford Branch will include stops in East Somerville, Gilman Square, Magoun Square, Ball Square, and Medford/Tufts stations.
The over $2 billion project will connect Medford and Somerville to the Green Line. The project is the biggest expansion the MBTA has done in decades, according to the MBTA.
"We've got [to] train over to the new Elfland, that's the Green Line, we've just been really excited about this opening for a long time now and so to see it finally happening is very exciting," Colin of Somerville said.

One T rider is excited about the extension, but said there are still improvements to be made by the MBTA.
"Unfortunately it doesn't connect to the Purple Line, the commuter line, in a convenient way here that's I think really unfortunate and also unfortunately West Medford is not going to be a stop in the near future," Juliet said.
The MBTA is hosting a ribbon cutting for the opening on Monday at the Medford/Tufts Station.
