BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) — Boston's annual Harborfest kicked off on Friday for five days of music, art, food, and fireworks.
The 215th Army Band of the Massachusetts National Guard performed at Downtown Crossing to kick off Harborfest's opening ceremony. Attendees got to enjoy a massive 8 by 4-foot cake while historic reenactors joked about decades-old feuds.
"250 years is enough time to make peace I think," a Samuel Prescott reenactor said.
"I think we can bond over cake," a Paul Revere reenactor replied.
This year, Harborfest is celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.

Chowderfest, fireworks, art markets, and historical reenactments are a few of the events taking place for Harborfest over Independence Day weekend at some of Boston's historic landmarks.
Martha Sheridan, with Meet Boston, told WBZ's Suzanne Small the festival is about bringing people together and celebrating independence in a historic city.
"It's a great way for people to explore our harbor, get out on the water if they can on some of our boats and really just enjoy what Boston has to offer on land and on sea," Sheridan said.
