BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — How much would you spend on a scratch-off?

Massachusetts State Lottery is introducing its first $50 scratch ticket offering over a billion dollars in total winnings. The ticket offers a $25 million instant win prize, making it the largest instant win prize in Massachusetts Lottery history. The new ticket will be made available in February.

"50 bucks versus 25 million, I'd rather take the chance with the 25 million," Mike, a Massachusetts resident, told WBZ's James Rojas. "That's just my personal feeling."

One man said he already spends $50 a week on scratch tickets, but doesn't see himself changing his ways to put it all on one ticket.

"It's a little steep for me, I'd say your odds are probably better playing more $5 scratch tickets, say like if you're going to spend $50 get ten of them, your odds are probably better," Brian said.

While few people told Rojas they would consider buying the $50 ticket for themselves, several said they would purchase it as a gift for someone else.
