BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Boston Licensing Board voted unanimously to suspend Monica's Trattoria's license to serve alcohol and food on Tuesday morning following the arrest of owner Patrick Mendoza in connection with a North End shooting.

The suspension will stay in place until the Board holds another hearing to transfer management away from Mendoza. So far, no date has been set.

At the hearing, William Ferullo, Monica's Trattoria's lawyer, expressed his concerns about the urgency of holding another hearing soon, as he doesn't want "people to be out of work" while the North End eatery is without a license.

"You know what the situation in the industry is, once people leave it's hard to get them back," Ferullo said to the Board.

On Friday, Mendoza pleaded not guilty in Boston Municipal Court to several charges related to the shooting. A judge ordered him to be held without bail.

Mendoza is accused of shooting at a man he had been feuding with for years on July 12. The man was not shot but Modern Pastry was left with a bullet hole through one of the bakery's front windows.

Mendoza was on the run from police for several days after the shooting before being arrested on July 21.
