GARDNER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police continued to search for a Gardner man wanted in connection to his wife's death on Tuesday after finding his car abandoned in the woods on Monday night.

Investigators found Aaron Pennington's BMW in a wooded area at Camp Collier in Gardner around 5 p.m. on Monday. He was not in the vehicle when it was discovered, prompting officials to start a search of the area, state police said.

A shelter-in-place was in effect for residents on Kelton Street at the time and was later lifted around 10 p.m.

Investigators were unable to find Pennington and continued the search on Tuesday.

Police have been searching for Pennington, 33, since the murder of his wife Breanne Pennington, 30, over the weekend. Police found her dead in their home on Cherry Street on Sunday after being shot in the face. Her four children had gone to a neighbor's house for help after they were unable to find their father and heard their mother crying inside, court documents revealed.

Police are asking anyone who sees Pennington not to approach, since he is considered armed and dangerous, and to call 911.

Pennington is a white man, about 6'2", around 175lbs, with blond hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Massachusetts State Police at (508) 829-8236 or the Gardner Police Department at (978) 632-5600.
