Police Find Missing Jet Skier's Body After Northampton River Boat Collision

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — State Police said they have found a body after days of searching for a missing jet skier in Northampton's portion of the Connecticut River.

Just before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Massachusetts State Police Underwater Recovery Team divers discovered the missing jet skier's body while conducting an underwater search about 150 feet from the shore. The jet skier has been identified as 51-year-old Carlos Lopez, officials announced.

Massachusetts State Police started searching for Lopez on Sunday evening after his jet ski collided with a boat.

Two people were on the boat at the time of the incident and were rescued by Environmental Police Officers before being transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield for treatment, police said.

State Police Detectives are investigating the collision at this time.
