CAPE COD, Mass. (WBZ News Radio) — Some Cape Cod boaters got an unexpected surprise while whale watching on Saturday.

Passengers on a Dolphin Fleet Whale Watch tour out of Provincetown got a special treat when an Atlantic white shark made an appearance. The sighting was the first confirmed white shark sighting of the season.

A video was taken of the white shark preying on a seal in the water.

The sighting comes as sharks start to head back to the Massachusetts coast.

"As we get closer to the summer and fall seasons, it is important to note that white sharks are making their way back to the Cape Cod coastline. Please remember to follow the shark smart guidelines and to report white shark sightings to the Sharktivity App," Atlantic White Shark Conservancy wrote on Twitter.

Those with the Sharktivity App can report shark sightings and track where sharks are off our coast. The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy Sharktivity App was developed to raise awareness of the white sharks living in our waters.
