SALEM, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Early birds were out bright and early with wallets in hand on Black Friday this year. Spots were sparse in the parking lot of the Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem New Hampshire as shoppers hunted down deals.
Some shoppers from Methuen headed for the Mall at Rockingham Park to get their deals tax-free in New Hampshire. One shopper was on the hunt for holiday gifts for his family after getting inspiration on Thanksgiving.
"This is all stuff for the family it's Bath and Body Works, we got some toys for my grandkids, and then stuff for just the house," Ron from Methuen told WBZ's Shari Small.
Ron said he was surprised by the crowds this year.

"Me and my sister do it every year and right now it's packed inside, last year it wasn't like this," Ron said.
Another Black Friday was underwhelmed by the deals this year compared to past years.
"Some of the stores that we were in there was barely anybody in there, lines were really quick, but it depends on what store you're in," Nicole from Methuen said. "It's not like [it was] a couple years ago where everything was bargain hunting."
One woman had high expectations for her first Black Friday, as she had just recently moved to Revere from India.
