BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — More than 90 swimmers took on Boston Harbor on Sunday in honor of the Navy SEAL community's fallen warriors.

The 5K swim kicked off the 5th annual Boston Frogman Swim on Sunday morning. Over 30 Gold Star Navy SEAL members were in attendance either in the water or cheering on the swimmers.

The annual event is put on to raise support for the Navy SEAL Foundation and families while honoring those who have fallen.

"I believe that for Gold Star families the bottom line is we want our children to be remembered," said Nancy Marston, a Gold Star mother from Rye, New Hampshire.

Swimmers included former SEALs, special operations veterans, military family members, and supporters. There were more than 60 safety kayakers paddling alongside this year’s swimmers.

"Having your child deployed, for me, was very tough I worried all the time," Nancy Marston told WBZ's Shari Small. "So when he was home and just in training I thought that he was safe."

Her son Blake, a Navy SEAL, was killed in 2018 when he was 31 years old. He was in Florida home from deployment when he was involved in a parachute training accident.
