CHELSEA, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Chelsea Police are investigating after a teenage girl was left with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car over the weekend.

Police got reports that a 14-year-old from Everett was walking in Chelsea's Beacham Street cannabis dispensary parking lot when she was hit by a car just after 8 p.m. on Sunday, officials said.

State Police said their preliminary investigation shows that a 2020 Mercedes Benz sedan, driven by 44-year-old Ceserino Borelli, was driving on Beacham Street when he exited the road and went into the Dunkin parking lot at a high speed. The Mercedes then drove through a metal fence surrounding the parking lot of the RISE Dispensary, causing property damage, and struck a parked Mercedes SUV and the teenage girl, police said.

There were people inside the parked Mercedes when it was hit.

After hitting the teen, Borelli continued driving through the parking lot hitting a parked Nissan SUV.

"I don't know what happened to him or what the reason was, but I don't know what to say it just hurts so bad and everybody makes mistakes and accidents happen," the girl's father told WBZ's Kendall Buhl.

The girl's father said he performed CPR before first responders got to the scene. She was later transported to a Boston hospital in critical condition, police said.

Borelli has been charged with several motor vehicle offenses, police said.
