Worcester County DA: Oxford Police Shoot Man Allegedly Carrying A Sword

OXFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — An investigation is underway after an officer shot a man carrying a sword in Oxford on Sunday morning, according to Worcester County District Attorney's office.

Around 6 a.m. in the area of 407 Main Street, a man allegedly advanced on an officer with a sword before police shot him, officials said.

The man is being treated for his injuries at an area hospital. The officer involved was not injured and has since been placed on paid administrative leave as per Oxford Police protocol, said Worcester County District Attorney's office.

Oxford Police and Massachusetts State Police are investigating.
