Knox. (Wrentham Police)
WRENTHAM, Mass. (AP/WBZ NewsRadio 1030) -- It turns out a bulldog that went missing under mysterious circumstances in Wrentham last week belongs to a former New England Patriots player.
Wrentham police wrote on Facebook last Friday that a trainer was walking former linebacker Jerod Mayo's English bulldog, Knox, and another dog at Joe's Rock Thursday when Knox disappeared. They noted that the dog couldn't have gotten far, that they found no trace of him--except for his collar, neatly removed and sitting in the middle of a trail.
Mayo posted a plea for the dog's return on Instagram Saturday, saying his family is praying that Knox is returned "safe and sound." Mayo said in an Instagram post that there would be a reward associated with helping find the dog.
Anyone with information is asked to call Wrentham Police at 508-384-2121.
