State Officials: Second Child Dies From Flu-Related Illness

BOSTON, MA ( WBZ NewsRadio ) — Another child has died from a flu-related illness the Massachusetts Department of Public Health confirms to WBZ NewsRadio Friday.

This marks as the second flu-related pediatric death in the Commonwealth.

They say the child was a girl who lived in Middlesex County.

Earlier this week 12-year-old Aaron Zenus of Milford became the first child in Massachusetts to die from a flu-related illness this year.

The boy had his flu shots, according to his mother, but still got sick—and just days later, he was pronounced dead in the emergency room at Milford Regional Medical Center.

The DPH says that both death are unrelated.
