BROCKTON (WBZNewsRadio) - South Shore Bar Pizza has been a staple of Massachusetts for decades, but for one Brockton restaurant they're transforming the popular menu item into so much more; a burger.
For those of you unfamiliar with South Shore Bar Pizza, let us explain. The crust is thin and buttery, more like a cracker than bread and the cheese is predominately cheddar. It's different than your typical slice, and while it isn't for everyone, it's been gaining fans on social media recently.
Cape Cod Café in Brockton is where the beloved pizza was first created and now they're taking their pizza to another level. It's called the Ando, and it's described on the menu as a burger "topped with American cheese in between two mini cheese pizzas."
The owner of the eatery tells WBZ's Chris Fama, diners have come from over an hour away after seeing the creation on social media.
So how do you eat it?
"Sometimes people eat it with the pizza on top. Then I see some people turn it around and have the pizza towards the burger." One employee said. "Some people use their hands and some people use a fork and knife."
One thing is for certain, there is no wrong way to eat it.
