BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) – A dog that was found abandoned at a park in Avon last year is looking for her forever home.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL) describes Yennifer as a “Velcro dog.” The Pitbull-type dog is estimated to be about one year old and has been recovering in one of ARL’s fosters homes over the past month. Now, Yennifer is ready to be taken in by a loving family.

In December 2021, the ARL found Yennifer and another Pitbull-type dog emaciated and abandoned at D.W. Field Park in Avon. The duo was taken to the ARL’s Boston Animal Care and Adoption Center and were treated for malnourishment as well as numerous abrasions.

Since then, Yennifer has been placed in a foster home and was put on a re-feeding plan where she has gained just over six pounds. The ARL says the other dog that Yennifer was found with continues to remain in foster care and is making great progress, but is not ready to be put up for adoption yet.

The ARL says Yennifer would benefit from having an owner who can be home with her often and give her lots of attention. She is also up to date on all her vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered and micro-chipped. More information about Yennifer and the adoption process can be found online.

ARL Law Enforcement and the Avon Police Department are investigating Yennifer’s case and is asking anyone with information about the incident to reach out.
