BRAINTREE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Shoppers and staff took shelter inside stores at South Shore Plaza Mall on Friday, while police responded to calls about a shooting.
Shortly before 5 p.m., Braintree Police said there was active police activity at "Granite Street SSP," asking people to avoid the area, and for those in the stores to stay inside.
At around 5:40 p.m., the Boston Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives confirmed Special Agents were on scene for an active shooter.
Multiple police and SWAT units responded to the scene. WBZ-TV confirmed at least one person suffered non-life threatening injuries in the shooting.
Around 6 p.m., WBZ-TV said the shooter was still at large and may have have left the scene, and that the shooting "seems to have started as a fight between two groups."
