BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — An arts and crafts organization that's been around for more than 125 years is transitioning its annual Craft Boston Holiday marketplace to an online venue.
The two-month-long event from the Society of Arts + Crafts used to be held in the Hynes Convention Center for an in-person marketplace that heavily focused on products locally made in the Greater Boston Area. But as participating artist Jenne Rayburn tells WBZ's Kim Tunnicliffe, the selection has expanded on its new digital platform.
"This show has 30 plus vendors, because it is a virtual show people can apply and sell work from anywhere— it is typically focused on New England artists. [The Society of Arts + Crafts] left their space in the Seaport early in 2020, before the pandemic, and were able to put their attention on the actually getting ready to serve the craft community online," Rayburn said.
Rayburn is selling some of her enamel jewelry pieces made in Melrose in the show that runs from now until January 8.
"I feel connected to history and tradition when I do it. I've actually sold something in every single show I've been in, so I feel it's a huge benefit to me and I'm grateful to be included,"
Rayburn said.
