Boston Police Charge Ride-Share Driver Of Kidnapping Female Victim

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — An Acton man was arrested after locking a female passenger into his car.

Kamal Essalak, 47, of Acton was arrested Saturday on a warrant.

Police said the woman had used her ride-share app to call the car, but when she demanded Essalak stop and let her out he enabled the child-safety lock so she couldn’t get out.

The victim reported that the driver acted strange and climbed into the back seat with her.

Boston Police said a woman called police around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday in the area of Commonwealth Ave.

“As the victim began to scream and bang on the glass in an attempt to draw attention to the unfolding situation, the suspect began to climb into the rear passenger area of the vehicle, laughing periodically,” Boston Police said.

Essalak is expected to be arraigned Monday in Brighton District Court on a kidnapping charge.
