CHICOPEE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Crews recovered the body of the second child who went missing near the Chicopee River on Saturday, Chicopee Police said Tuesday afternoon.
The two children, who were cousins, were reported missing around 1 p.m. Saturday after they had gone to play in the woods off Fuller Road and not returned home.
Chicopee Police said on Sunday that the first child died after being found later Saturday. Crews continued searching for the child's cousin through difficult weather conditions Monday.
"We offer our prayers and condolences to both families and ask that everyone keep them in their thoughts," Chicopee Public Information Officer Michael Wilk wrote on the department's Facebook page.
