BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — It's been about three years since the Faneuil Hall Marketplace hosted a Christmas tree lighting ceremony, but on Tuesday night that cold streak breaks as Santa Claus himself flicks on the lights at 6 p.m.
Leading up to and following the tree lightning, DJ Angel Alba will provide a musical performance while Santa Claus himself takes photos nearby. Officials have been preparing the Christmas tree and decorations at Quincy Market throughout the month of November.
Although, when the tree first went up, many were critical of how it looked— saying it looked scrappy and thin. But that was before the 30-foot Norway Spruce tree was unwrapped and trimmed, and since then, another tree was brought in to supplement branches lost over time, beefing up the foliage.

The event begins just around dusk on Tuesday at 4 p.m. for music and photos.
Also on Tuesday, the Boston Common's evergreen Christmas tree arrives to the city's green space from Nova Scotia.
On Monday night, Mayor Michelle Wu and Santa Claus attended the Lighting of the Trellis at Christopher Columbus Park.
