CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Spooky Season is upon us, and Halloween is right around the corner.

Boston Costume in Cambridge is doing a roaring trade. Binky, who works at the store, told WBZ NewsRadio's Kim Tunnicliffe (@KimWBZ) that the classics like angel wings, devil horns, and witch hats are flying off the shelves.

Game of Thrones and Star Wars costumes are also always big.

Maddie is trying to put a twist on a classic:

"I'm gonna do pirate, and then carry around DVDs and be pirated DVDs," she said. Another costume shopper, Mo from South Boston, is going as Adam Sandler, who has had a lot of "iconic" looks recently.

"I'm copying one of his outfits that's basically a huge t-shirt and shorts," she said.

Most Popular Costumes, Here and Nationwide:

Google crunched the numbers on trillions of search results this year to spit out the most popular Halloween costumes in each state and across the country using its "Frightgeist" tool.

Perhaps owing to the governor's recent official naming of a state dinosaur, Massachusetts' top costume search in September was Dinosaur. The rest of the top five were:

  • Spider-Man
  • Fairy
  • Stranger Things
  • Witch

Witch was number 1 nationally, followed by Spiderman and Dinosaur. Local favorite Hocus Pocus barely scraped the top 15, coming in at 14.
