CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Students from Harvard University protested on Sunday and accused the university of breaking their previously established agreement with the students by putting several on probation, preventing them from graduating during Harvard’s commencement ceremonies this Thursday.

The rally was organized by a student activist group known as Harvard Out of Occupied Palestine, or HOOP.

Harvard students who participated in the pro-Palestinian encampment had complied with the university by taking it down last week and said the school agreed to retract suspension notices that were issued.

Harvard is now saying that isn’t accurate and that disciplinary measures and suspensions are not up to the university as a whole, but the individual schools within Harvard.

Harvard’s interim President Alan Garber said in a written statement last week that he would “encourage disciplinary bodies to move their processes forward expeditiously, in line with their existing precedents and practices,”.

Harvard University told WBZ NewsRadio in a statement that the President’s statement contrasts with the student’s allegations against the university.

The Cambridge Police said that no arrests were made during Sunday’s protests.
