BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The iconic John Hancock sign that stood on top of Fenway Park for more than two decades will have a new home after this weekend.
On Saturday, construction crews began installing the sign at its new location, John Hancock’s 26-story headquarters building at 200 Berkeley St. in the Back Bay. The massive signature will be on the building's stepped pyramid roof, beneath the famous weather beacon and facing the Charles River.
Installation is expected to finish on Sunday.
The John Hancock sign was directly above the Fenway scoreboard from 2001 to the end of the 2022 MLB season. It was removed after the insurance company opted not to renew its sponsorship contract with the Boston Red Sox.
