CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A protest will be held at the Meta Offices in Cambridge on Friday. Shawn Fain, the president of the United Auto Workers Union, will be joining a local union of protestors on the picket lines Friday.
Dozens of protestors are rallying their voices against a dining services operation company that took over cafeteria services last December. The company, Israeli dining services operator Yarzin Zella took over the Meta offices cafeteria last December and is tossing out the old union contract and drafting a brand new one, according to the UNITE HERE, Local 26 union.

The union workers and Fain are demanding the dining services company to bargain with the union. Without Yarin Zella adopting the previous contract, 20 food service workers have lost pension contributions and could potentially lose their jobs, according to the union.
The workers are attempting to maintain the same working conditions as the employees at Google’s dining services, who represent the same union.
Meta is the parent company of Instagram and Facebook.
