LYNN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — It was a Good Friday rescue in Lynn after a seagull became impaled on the roof of the St. Pius V Church on Maple Street.
Newhouse Wildlife Rescue of Chelmsford said in a Facebook post Friday afternoon that the bird had been trapped since the previous night.

According to Newhouse, the church refused to allow people onto the property to help the seagull. WBZ NewsRadio reached out to the church for comment.
Eventually, the Lynn Fire Department was able to reach the bird and found that its wing was impaled on a lightning protection rod.
Firefighters were able to remove the bird and turn it over to Cape Ann Wildlife Inc. for treatment, Newhouse said. The non-profit thanked Cape Ann Wildlife, Massachusetts Environmental Police, and Salem Wildlife Rescue for their efforts in helping orchestrate the rescue.
