BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — For National Organ Donation Day at the Massachusetts Statehouse, lawmakers celebrated those who decided to donate while encouraging others to do the same if eligible.

"We have an incredible number of individuals who are registered as donors, over 4 million in Massachusetts, but we're always looking for more people to say 'yes' to organ donation," President and CEO of New England Donor Services Alexandra Glazier told WBZ's Carl Stevens.

Glazier goes on to say that despite the volume of donors in the state, there are still plenty of people on the waitlist for transplants.

"One single organ donor can save the lives of eight individuals and heal through tissue donation, many, many others," Glazier said.
