Massachusetts Relaxes Mask Mandate — Here's What You Need To Know

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massachusetts relaxed its mask mandate on Friday.

Residents are no longer required to wear a face covering while outside, except when it’s not possible to practice social distancing.

Masks are still required at indoor public places. They are also required at all events, even if they are outdoors or at a private home, except when eating or drinking.

At smaller gatherings at private homes, masks are recommended but not required.

This comes days after Gov. Charlie Baker announced a new reopening timeline for the state. Massachusetts is set to fully reopen on Aug. 1.
