BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The MBTA released more photos of their new, soon-to-be-introduced Red Line cars Thursday.
MassDOT Secretary and CEO Stephanie Pollack and MBTA General Manager Steve Poftak toured the new cars, which are set to make their debut next spring.
They're part of an all-new, 252-car fleet that will replace the aging cars currently running on the Red Line.
The first six cars arrived at the MBTA's Cabot Yard facility this fall. The T says they have more spacious interiors, wider doors, more handrails, two more accessibility seats in each car than current ones, and more modernized audio and visiual communication systems.
