BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — When it came time to pick a coffee cake for the royal couple's teatime during their Boston visit, the mayor's office went with a local favorite: "My Grandma's Coffee Cakes of New England."

WBZ's James Rojas got a behind-the-scenes look at the bakery's operation in Hyde Park, where Owner Bob Katz said he was honored to treat Princess Catherine and Prince William to their tasty goods.

"I felt some type of excited— this was a very unique feeling for us. A unique pride, I felt like a seven-year-old kid, I enjoy my life, but this was incredible. For us to be involved with the royalty and their tradition of a high tea? My goodness," Katz said.

Ahead of time, My Grandma's Coffee Cakes contacted Boston Mayor Michelle Wu's office to offer their products for the royal couple's trip. A commemorative tin container was custom made with a picture of the royal family that read "Welcome to Boston."

"We thought it would be a gift among other gifts— it was the gift for high noon tea, that's what the British have at 12 o'clock every day. This was at a level we never would have expected. There's just so much pride talking about this," Katz said.

Since then, the phone has been constantly ringing for My Grandma's Coffee Cakes even after the royals had made their trek home.
