BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Police will start closing off Old Road in Dorchester on the weekends due to illegal street parties and violence.
Police, elected officials and neighbors have identified Old Road as a hot spot for violence over the last year and a half. This area is very close to Franklin Park.

Earlier this month a 22-year-old man was shot and killed on Old Road. Many neighbors are not happy that kids continue to go out at night on the road.
Dorchester resident Stephanie has lived there for nine years and supported the new policy.
“Sometimes I’m scared to come out here,” said Stephanie. “I just live right there where the gun shot at night.”
Old Road will be closed from 8:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Thursday through Sunday.
