PEABODY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Monday, the Peabody Police Department announced that an arrest had been made in connection to an armed robbery at a Kay's Jewelers at the Simon Mall just hours after it happened.
Police say 27-year-old Starlin Batista of Peabody is under arrest for holding up the jewelry store with a gun while wearing a white "Ghostface" mask, all-black clothes, and a backpack with a note inside that read: “Put everything in the bag. I’ll give you two minutes before I shoot. Don’t make a sound.”
Officials say it wasn't long until an officer noticed the suspect matching the description of the robber near an access road of the mall property. Upon Batista's arrest officers say they found a black BB gun on his person along with the several necklaces and watches that were stolen from Kay's. Those items were promptly returned.
