Public Invited To USS Constitution’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) – Spectators are welcome to take part in this year’s annual tree lighting ceremony on the USS Constitution.

The free event is scheduled for Sunday, December 5 at 4:30 p.m. on the ship. It will feature a visit and photo opportunities with Santa Claus, free hot chocolate and cookies, holiday music and remarks from the ship’s commanding officer.

Guests are also welcome to watch the ship fire guns in observance of evening colors, a ceremony for lowering the American Flag on the ship at sunset. This will be held at 4:12 p.m. People are allowed to stay on the ship until 6:00 p.m. for free ship tours.

The current visiting hours for the USS Constitution are Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The USS Constitution Museum is currently open every day from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
