BEVERLY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Shoebert the Seal is, somehow, back on the North Shore. The (comparatively) little seal won local fame after showing up in Beverly's Shoe Pond last month.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says it's now tracked Shoebert to the North Shore again, after he was released by a team from Mystic Aquarium on Block Island just last week.

Shoebert evaded capture for days in the pond last month before waddling over to the new Beverly Police station and turning himself in.

NOAA said the seal spent some time in his old stomping grounds on Cape Cod before coming back to the North Shore — they didn't specify where, exactly.

Before he was he was released, Shoebert was fixed with a GPS tag by a team of researchers so they could track his movements.
