BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Though shuttle buses were expected for this weekend, the Red Line replacement service has extended to make up for commutes between Alewife and Park Street stations.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority says that buses are operating between Alewife and Park Street because of a disabled train in the work zone near Kendall Square in Cambridge.

Originally, Red Line buses were set to fill in for service between Alewife and Kendall Stations for the weekend, but on Saturday the MBTA extended that advisory to cover more stations southbound.

At one point, bus service reached as far south as Broadway Station on Saturday.
