STOW, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Out of 351 municipalities in Massachusetts, about a third of the state isn't "Running on Dunkin,'" including Stow which remains without a chain location within its boundaries. There are 1,073 Dunkin' stores in the Commonwealth, and not a single one is in Stow.
WBZ's Matt Shearer traveled to the 'Dunkin' Desert,' to poll the people and find out their thoughts on what it means to be 'Dunkin-free' in a predominantly populated state.
In addition to Market Basket on Boston Road in Billerica, there are three Dunkin' stores on the same street. Though the same can't be said for Stow, which previously had two locations up until this year. Now that those stores are closed, the closest Dunkin' to Stow residents is in Maynard, a predicament that residents from both communities aren't too pleased with.
"I'm bummed out, yeah. Because I've been traveling further away to Dunkin'. [I have to travel] a mile and a half." said one Stow resident.
"Especially people coming from Stow— they're going to come through here on their way to work, and then I get held up for work. Maynard's a small town, we'd kinda like to keep it that way," said one Maynard resident.

"I'd have to go elsewhere or make my own, but that's not the same," said another resident.
