BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Much like how you would toss coins or cash into the tip jar of a barista, there's a video circulating the Internet that suggests tenants should show that same type of financial appreciation to their landlords— an idea that not many Allston residents are agreeing with.
The original video from the TikTok account "twoguystakeonrealestate" suggested slipping some gratuity towards owners, but three weeks later called the whole idea a joke. By then, the community reaction was in full force, including Boston's Allston neighborhood residents who told WBZ's Matt Shearer what their thoughts were on the matter.
"I don't tip them with money, I tip them in words: I tell them when the fire's hot, make sure he jumps in it— try to a degree in compassion school," said one Bostonian.
"That's like saying 'help the Yankees,'" said another.

"Well, we actually just had a flood in our apartment— the smoke detectors don't work," said Katie of Allston. Katie also let Matt take a tour of her apartment, which had a 6 feet by 5 feet room that was considered a bedroom.
"Yeah, this counts as a bedroom," Katie said before leading Matt to see a pile of dead rats stowed underneath her patio.
