MEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Tuesday morning, Tufts University's Somerville/Medford campus received its fourth bomb threat in a one-week timeframe. The school's campus stayed open following the threat's receipt, as Tufts University Police investigate and assess.

The announcement marks the fifth consecutive school day a threat has been pitted against TU. Officials said that the threat received on Friday was a "security threat."

The Tufts Daily, the independent student newspaper of TU, reports that they have received a copy of Tuesday's threat, saying the alleged bombs would detonate at several campus buildings, an athletic field, and at the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms Boston Field Division on Causeway Street "within minutes."

The following message from TU was sent out to students and staff of the Tufts community:

"The university has received another threat that may be related to recent events. At this time, the Medford/Somerville campus remains open. As we continue to assess the threats, please be assured that Tufts University Police are responding with our local partners to investigate each incident. Please be advised that you will continue to see an increased public safety presence on campus. We ask that if you see something suspicious, please call Tufts Police at 617-627-6911. We thank you for your continued patience as we navigate this ongoing event," the advisory read.

On Monday, Tufts President Tony Monaco said several of the collective threats contained language that was opposed to university values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. Monaco went on to say that the school would be increasing security and patrols on the Medford/Somerville campus.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
