HARVARD (WBZNewsRadio) - It's officially awards season and a Massachusetts woman's machine-washable yoga mat will be included in luxury gift bags ahead of the Academy Awards.

It's called the R-Yolo yoga mat and it was designed Donna Lee, a Harvard resident.

After her mother died of congestive heart failure and complications from diabetes, Lee decided to change her life. She began going to the gym and soon joined the yoga and Pilates lifestyle.

As her love for the full-body work-out grew, she became concerned about the cleanliness of the shared yoga mats the classes offered. So she set out to design her own mat that was strong enough to survive a machine washing after ever use.

"The timing of pulling this all together really aligned with what was going on in the world," Lee said.

She created the first of it's kind machine-washable mat and rightfully named the mat company R-Yolo; (Remember, You Only Live Once).

It was kismet when on a trip to Los Angeles in January, Lee met with the owner of GBK Brand Bar, a luxury L.A. gift shop. After hearing her journey into the business, the owner of the shop offered Lee the change to include her mat in a gift bag celebrities would receive at a pre-Oscars event hosted by GBK on March 25 and 26.

The Oscars award ceremony takes place a day later, on March 27, at the Dolby Theatre.
