Boston Police Officer Shoots Driver In Roslindale During Struggle Over Gun

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) -- A Boston Police officer shot a driver in Roslindale on Washington Street during a routine traffic stop.

“During the stop a struggle ensued between officers and a suspect over a firearm located in the vehicle,” Superintendent-in-Chief Gregory Long said. “A firearm was located at the scene, and there’s body camera footage of the scene."

As an officer was struggling over the weapon, one of the officers shot the suspect in the leg.

According to WBZ-TV I-Team, it was a female officer who shot the suspect in the leg.

Passengers on the MBTA near Forest Hills were forced to find other forms of transportation as police swarmed the area.

The driver is suffering from non-life threatening injuries, according to the police.

Three police officers were transported to nearby hospitals for evaluations.

The driver is set to face charges at a later date.
