NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – A New Bedford business owner will soon see one of his largest dollhouses featured on an upcoming new television series.

As the owner of Flip This Dollhouse in New Bedford, Nathaniel Ellis collects old dollhouses to repurpose and resell. Now, one of his large Victorian-style homes will be featured on HBO’s new series “The Gilded Age.”

Ellis said “Downton Abbey” was always one of his favorite shows and that when “Gilded Age” called about the sale, he was ecstatic.

“When I realized it was being created by Julian Fellowes, the creator of ‘Downton Abbey,’ I was so excited.”

The dollhouse is more than just a typical dollhouse. It has working electricity, chandeliers, wallpaper and a bunch of miniature paintings that are copies of famous works by Renoir and Monet.

Ellis has also gotten calls about having his own reality show, something the dollhouse enthusiast said would be his peak.

“For years, I’ve been saying [that] my shop would make an interesting reality show and a lot of my customers say the same thing.”
